Charles Walzie Bradbury

Charles Walzie Bradbury Sr., 89, of Powhatan, died September 21, 2002.

     He was born on June 7, 1913 in Charlotte County, Virginia. He was a veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Romulus. He moved to Powhatan County in the 1940s and has been active in the community and a faithful member of Graceland Baptist Church since that time.
     He was preceded in death by his first wife Edith Wilson Bradbury; his brothers Leslie Bradbury, Rufus (Jack) Bradbury and Stonewall (Stoney) Bradbury and sisters Lottie Bradbury and Sadie Bradbury McKinney. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Mable Hill Bradbury; three children, Mary Lou Bradbury, Charles W. (Buddy) Bradbury, Jr. and Robert M. (Bobby) Bradbury and wife Theresia all of Powhatan. He is also survived by two stepsons, Jerry Hill and wife Beverly of Powhatan and Ron Hill and wife Donna Carol of Chandler, Arizona. He also leaves a devoted grandson, Charles Lee Bradbury and wife Jenny, five step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn his passing.
     Services were held in the chapel of Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 24 with interment at the Graceland Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Graceland Baptist Church Cemetery Perpetual Fund.
